Abstract
Apple’s Liquid Glass and Android’s big visual update in 2025 have brought the cross-platform design system back into focus. The visual material can change, but the semantics, status, and accessibility rules must remain stable.
2025 Timeline and Evidence
Apple released Liquid Glass, which covers multiple systems, in June.
Google announced in May that Android was the biggest design update in years.
The multi-device experience involves screen size, input methods, ambient light, and performance differences.
In-depth research
The design system, if it collects only screenshots of components, cannot manage movement, transparency, proxy behavior, and content priorities.Teams need to turn principles into testable parameters and allow for evidence-based differences across platforms.
Design Response Design Response
01 Use thresholds for material, motion, contrast, and hierarchy settings.
02 Verify with the same mission-critical cross-cell, tablet, and desktop.
Record the exception for reasons and avoid disorderly forks.
AURELIS observation
The mature system does not make all interfaces the same, but let different interfaces still express the same product logic.
