Review Principles
& Oversight

Core Responsibilities

Minimum Review Standards

AURELIS defines the minimum requirements for review activities, including scope, criteria, weighting, independent scoring, tie handling, recusal procedures, result confirmation and record retention. Each award may develop its own professional framework, but it must not fall below the published baseline.

Reviewer Eligibility

Award organisers propose reviewers. AURELIS verifies identity, professional experience, category relevance, independent judgement and the required confidentiality and interest-disclosure records. Eligibility review confirms only that a reviewer meets the appointment threshold; it does not involve AURELIS in judging entries.

Procedural Verification & Records

AURELIS retains, or requires organisers to retain, reviewer biographies, appointment records, relationship disclosures, original scores, amendments, meeting minutes and result-confirmation files. Following a formal complaint, procedural anomaly or compliance review, AURELIS verifies only whether procedure and records are complete; it does not reassess the work.

Records to Be Retained

People & Appointment

Identity, biography, discipline, term, appointment authority, training confirmation and confidentiality undertaking.

Interests & Relationships

Disclosures concerning relationships with authors or participating organisations, association checks, recusal decisions and replacement records.

Review Process

Rule version, work allocation, original scores, reasons, amendment timestamps, meeting minutes, objections and result authorisation.

Conflicts of Interest & Recusal

When Recusal Is Required

A reviewer must disclose the relationship and withdraw from the relevant entry where there is a direct financial interest, recent collaboration, employment or supervisory relationship, close family relationship, undisclosed competition, or another circumstance capable of affecting independent judgement.

Responsibility for Results

Reviewers who pass eligibility review independently examine, score and decide results under the award rules. AURELIS does not judge entries, provide scoring opinions, or determine shortlists, rankings or award results.
